Plaid Mob @ Old Firehouse Books

22 Feb

The Plaid Mob last night was so fun!!! Not only was it also Mardi Gras (yes, we decorated our plaid-wearing selves), but we had a great turn-out of already-veteran Plaid Mobbers and beautiful newbies. Tonight, we went to support Old Firehouse Books, bringing with us our handy boom box and the “plaid mob” playlist.  Shopping [...]

Appreciating Local…non-locally

16 Feb

Last weekend, I took a trip to Los Angeles.  It was such a blast!  I hadn’t been there for a few years, and even then it was a pretty quick trip to see my cousin….who is AWESOME, by the way…but I diverge.  This trip, I did very LA-ish things: walked along Hollywood Blvd, took pictures [...]

Many thanks to all of our market vendors and customers for another bustling Winter Farmers’ Market! It’s so good to be a part of such an engaged community that gets together to celebrate local food! Although it is mid-February, there is plenty of fresh produce available from our talented farmers in Northern Colorado.  Spinach, lettuces, [...]

This claymation video is awesome.  Interesting fact: John McCutcheon, one of the creators and voice of the frog, was my roommate senior year of college.  Nice work, John! Whatever your level of “localness,” we still hope to see you at the Farmers’ Markets.

First plaid mob…a success!

Last night was SO much fun! A bunch of us met at the fountain in Old Town Square, listening to my newly completed Plaid Mob playlist (just a bunch of my favorite upbeat songs….like Michael Jackson’s P.Y.T.) and dancing around to stay warm.   Right around 5:35pm, we took our music and strutted down the [...]

Our FIRST Plaid Mob is next week!!

When: Tues. January 17 at 5:30 pm
Location:  The Fort Collins Food Coop, 250 E. Mountain Ave

“What is a plaid mob?” you may ask… well..

Known in cities around the country as a Cash Mob, we’ve fine tuned the idea to fit Northern Colorado.  It’s a simple idea.  On the third Tuesday of each month people show up at a pre-identified local business with at least $10 cash and mob the business with purchases.

Why “plaid mob” and not “cash mob?” Because Be Local is all about plaid, jump-started by Plaid Friday.  Plaid represents the unique, quirky flair of our local community that we love so much.
